Texas Insider Report: WASHINGTON D.C. This week former CIA undercover officer cybersecurity entrepreneur and former Oversight and Government Reform IT Subcommittee Chair U.S. Representative Will Hurd (TX-23) was appointed to serve as the Lead Repbulican of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence (HPSCI) Subcommittee on Intelligence Modernization and Readiness (INMAR).
This new subcommittee oversees overall management of the Intelligence Community to ensure all 17 U.S. Intelligence agencies have the workforce infrastructure and resources they need to keep Americans safe from 21st century threats.
Hurd brings firsthand cybersecurity and intelligence experience to the subcommittee and in this new role will continue to build on his bipartisan IT modernization policies that have saved the federal government $5 billion since 2015 and made important strides toward securing government information systems from cyberattacks.
We are living in a dangerous increasingly interconnected world where our enemies tactics techniques and procedures are constantly evolving. It is imperative for our national security that the intelligence community is ready to meet these threats" said Hurd. I left an organization I love and a career I loved because I believed I could help the intelligence community in a different way as a policy maker. Thats one of the reasons I ran for Congress. I look forward to using my firsthand experience as a former undercover CIA officer and the knowledge I have gained working with my colleagues on the Intelligence Committee and as Chair of the IT Subcommittee in this new role to make sure our intelligence agencies have the updated technologies and resources they need to meet the challenge of keeping Americans safe in the 21st century."
