Hurd on the Hill: Hitting the Road in August

Coming to a Town Near You   Texas Insider Report: WASHIGTON D.C. The best part of my job is meeting with families across the district. Each town from San Antonio to El Paso and every place in between has their own flavor and charm not to mention some of the hardest working people Ive ever met. When not working in DC Im traveling to one of these towns in the twenty-nine counties in the 23rd Congressional District of Texas to meet with constituents and learn about the issues most important to them. Sometimes I stop in a half-dozen or more towns before flying back to DC on Monday. Why is this so important? Because my job is to serve as yourRepresentative and hearing from you face-to-face makes me more effective. This is why I look forward to August recess all year so that I can hit the road with my team and meet with folks all month long. This year I am hosting two sets of public meetings during the first half of August. The Tech2Town Summer Road Trip will be held in San Elizario and Van Horn on Wednesday August 3; Alpine Fort Stockton and Sonora on Thursday August 4; and Del Rio on August 5 where I will bring computer professionals to provide free computer and internet training as part of a larger initiative to inspire STEM education careers and entrepreneurship. These workshops will be open to the public all are welcome! To have a qualified workforce we must ensure access to technology education and development for all ages and abilitiesand not just in the big cities like San Antonio and El Pasobut in all of our hard-working communities. Prioritizing education initiatives like Tech2Town will help create a diverse 21st century workforce drive technological advancement and innovation across every industry and allow Texans to be more competitive in the global arena. Get the full details on these workshops by visiting Hurd.House.gov/Tech2Town or calling 210-921-3130. DC2DQ my meet and greet series at local Dairy Queens throughout the district was a hit last summer so were continuing the tradition. Just like last year each meeting will be open to the public and be an opportunity for me to hear your questions and concerns directly along with providing you an update on what Im working on back home and in Washington to keep us safe grow the economy and increase opportunity across the district. It has been an eventful year so count on many lively and insightful conversations. We are still finalizing all the exact details for DC2DQ Part II.
