State Rep. Jacey Jetton Announces Healthcare Cost-Sharing Bill

“Since the Affordable Care Act was passed, many small business owners are unable to afford healthcare coverage.”

Texas Insider Report: AUSTIN, Texas – State Representative Jacey Jetton announces a bill to make healthcare coverage more affordable for Texas families. House Bill 1369 will allow more people to enter into or form healthcare cost-sharing groups.

“Since the Affordable Care Act was passed, many small business owners are unable to afford healthcare coverage,” Jetton said. “This issue is personal for me. As small business owners, my family and I know how expensive healthcare coverage can be and we understand the burden many other families are experiencing. While some people will qualify for subsidies through ACA, many small business owners do not qualify to receive assistance and they do not have the ability to pay high premiums in addition to high deductibles.”

House Bill 1369 will expand who is eligible to enter into a healthcare cost-sharing group. Existing cost-sharing groups have provided a haven for people who do not receive health insurance from their employer, do not qualify for subsidies, and cannot afford insurance in the marketplace. House Bill 1369 will make healthcare coverage more affordable for anyone interested in forming or participating in a healthcare cost-sharing group.
