Biden's not consulting with key Capitol Hill Democrats indicates a political message rather than a serious legislative initiative
WASHINGTON, D.C. (Texas Insider Report) — Eight days after announcing that he'd end his presidential bid, Joe Biden went to Austin, Texas today to launch a Democrat Campaign against the U.S. Supreme Court – and made it clear he wants to remain in the political limelight while his party's leaders (who forced him to withdraw from the race,) attempt to "pass the torch" to one Kamala Harris, who should be none too pleased with Biden's insistence of grabbing the spotlight away from her.
It’s the most dangerous policy proposal by an American president since World War II – and Kamala Harris has pledged she will campaign in support of the idea, providing American Voters with yet another example of just what lengths Democrats are willing to go to "Save Our Democracy."
As a result, tearing down "Democracy" will remain squarely on the ballot this fall.
Anyone who repeats The Left's partisan talking points or propaganda calling this “court reform” should resign their job as a journalist.
Most interestingly, the Biden White House did not consult with Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Dick Durbin or any other key Congressional Democrats on the House side regarding on Mr. Biden's proposals to dramatically overhaul the Supreme Court.
Numerous analysyst from both sides of the aisle indicated that Biden's lack of coordination with Capitol Hill leaders signals his proposals amount to more of a pre-election message than a serious legislative initiative.
- The White House neglected reach out to coordinate with Durbin (D-IL) or his committee about Biden's proposals prior to his Austin announcement, a source familiar with the matter told Axios.
- One senior House Judiciary Committee member also said they had "no knowledge" of Biden's plans – which includes calling for an 18-year "term limit" for the justices – ahead of time.
- The omission is especially notable because the Judiciary Committee has spearheaded recent Democrat efforts to overhaul how the court operates.
- Justice Clarence Thomas (confirmed in 1991)
- Chief Justice John Roberts (confirmed in 2005)
- Justice Samuel Alito (who was confirmed in January 2006),
- while giving three more years after that before coming for Justice Sonia Sotomayor (confirmed in 2009)
Translation: The method doesn’t matter – only the goal of changing who has the majority... and we'll stop at nothing.
In addition to the operational changes, Mr. Biden's proposal would require Congress to pass a Constitutional Amendment in order to limit presidents' immunity from federal prosecutions, and on a different matter would require both houses of Congress to pass a bill to establish a "Code of Ethics" for the court.
While a small group of House Democrats did introduce a bill last Tuesday calling for term limits for Supreme Court Justices, it is unlikely to go anywhere.Sadly, Mr. Biden is using a trip to the LBJ Presidential Library in Texas – an event meant to celebrate the 60th Anniversary of the Civil Rights Act – to call for nothing less than a history-changing Constitutional Amendment and major legislation he knows has no chance of passing Congress.
Biden, who dropped his re-election bid just over a week ago and threw his support behind Harris, first teased the plan in a call with Progressive Caucus members earlier this month as he was trying to salvage his candidacy.
Ours is fundamentally a system of rules: The "rule of law" means everybody agrees to play by the same set of laws, rather than just throw them out when they lose.
Joe Biden, the Democrat Party, and now presumptive nominee Kamala Harris played by the rules, they lost, and as a result want to overturn the table – to protect "Our Democracy" no less – as a result.
It will now become a centerpiece of the Kamala Harris's campaign.
