AUSTIN, Texas (Texas Insider Report) — Earlier today, Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick announced the following legislation for the First Called Special Session of the 89th Texas Legislature.
Addressing the issue of Consumable Hemp-Derived Products that offer a similar high to marijuana – and are now widely available across Texas, including to minors thanks to a loophole in a previous law – was initially seen as the most high-profile item anticipated for the Special Session Agenda.
Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick and the Texas Senate have called for an out-right ban on the products.
Texas Republicans head into the mid-summer session having already achieved a successful Regular Session earlier in the year.
