Property Tax Reform & Relief Act of 2017 Texas Insider Report: AUSTIN Texas  Texans have spoken loud and clear. Common-sense property tax reform legislation is long overdue. After eight interim hearings across the state and over 50 hours of public testimony property tax relief legislation Senate Bill 2 was filed on Tuesday. Adoption of Constitutional Spending Limit On Thursday the Legislative Budget Board adopted a constitutional spending limit that will restrict budget growth to 8 percent over the next two years. Texans expect their state government to spend taxpayer dollars wisely - and that is what well do.

Addressing the Crises in Foster Care Protecting every Texas child is a priority for all of us. On Thursday the Senate approved a funding request from the Department of Family and Protective Services for additional caseworker and salary increases to make sure we have the staffing resources that are Patrickneeded to assure the safety of our children.

Senate Christmas Tree This week marked the Texas Senates second annual Christmas Tree ornament decoration ceremony. Senators Kelly Hancock Joan Huffman Jane Nelson Larry Taylor Sylvia Garcia and Lois Kolkhorst stopped by to put up ornaments from their districts. We also had a helping hand from two students from Academy at Nola Dunn Elementary School.
