Lt. Gov. Patrick on A.G. Paxton’s School Choice Opinion: 'Grounded in the U.S. Constitution & Common Sense'

"Republicans, Independents and Democrats overwhelmingly support school choice.”

Texas Insider Report: AUSTIN, Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick issued the following statement today in response to Attorney General Ken Paxton’s legal opinion that there is no constitutional barrier prohibiting school choice in Texas:

“Attorney General Paxton’s opinion that school choice is legal and constitutional in Texas is not surprising, but it is still great news for all Texans.

"All Texas children deserve an education that best fits their needs, and parents should not be forced to send their children to schools that they do not believe are best for their child.

"The Attorney General’s legal opinion is grounded in the United States Constitution and is common sense. Republicans, Independents and Democrats overwhelmingly support school choice.”
