Lt. Gov. Patrick: Texas Senate Advances Strongly into April

"The Senate has done its work and will continue to do whatever it takes to deliver what the voters of Texas expect from us.”

Texas Insider Report: AUSTIN, Texas “The Texas Senate is in overdrive, working hard to complete the people’s business," said Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick earlier today.

“Texans expect us to pass more property tax relief and border security funding. They expect us to pass legislation to reduce crime on our streets, keep criminals behind bars with strong bail reform, protect our children, enact school choice, put prayer and the 10 Commandments back in our schools, pay our teachers like the professionals they are, stop illegal immigrants from voting, address the healthcare of Texans, address our water and power needs, create new jobs, continue our strong business climate, and so many other important issues.

“I am proud to say the Texas Senate has already, with lightning-fast speed, passed bills on all these issues, and more.

“As the Senate advances into April, we have already passed an amazing 29 of the voters’, the Senate’s, and my top 40 priority bills over to the House. My goal is to pass most, if not all, of the 40 Senate priority bills and other major bills by April 15, as I have done every session since I have been Lt. Governor. I do not let the clock kill important, must-pass bills.

“Last week alone, the Texas Senate passed 84 bills over to the Texas House. The Senate has now passed 205 bills in total. The Texas House has passed only 10 bills total to date.

“The Speaker is saying all the right things privately and publicly. Communication is good, and we are working on major issues together, but the clock is ticking each day towards the end of session deadline on June 2. I look forward to their swift action on the 205 Senate bills we have passed over to them.

“This can be one of the most conservative sessions in history. The Senate has done its work and will continue to do whatever it takes to deliver what the voters of Texas expect from us.”
