Her Platforms Extreme but she represents the Future of the Democrat Party
By Matt Mackowiak
Texas Insider Report: WASHINGTON D.C. Last seek in a remote Democratic New York primary an unknown 28-year-old member of the
Democrat Socialist Party of America" named Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez decisively defeated the 4th-highest ranking House Democrat She beat the
Chairman of the House Democrat Caucus Joe Crowley. In her very first run for office. the Democratic result caused an earthquake on Capitol Hill.
Crowley has served in Congress since 1999. Hes been a supposedly powerful member of the House Democrat Leadership Team and was considered a likely successor to Nancy Pelosi to head of
the House Democratic Caucus.
But because Ocasio-Cortez won by a unprecedented 15 margin
out of some 27000 votes cast
her candidacy has become a test case for the rising Socialist-Left Movement within the Democrat Party that been has launched by and is gaining strength daily from the backing of Sen. Bernie Sanders.
Ocasio-Cortez ran on a Democrat Socialist platform just like that of Vermont Socialist Bernie Sanders when he ran for president in 2016. Sanders has never run on the Democrat ticket and has only been elected in Vermont as a Socialist Democrat although he caucuses with the Democrats in the U.S. Senate.
A campaign flier for the upstart challenger listed her Key Promises as:
- Medicare for All"
- A Living Wage
- A Tax on Wall Street to fund Tuition-Free Universities
- Justice Reform to end the War on Drugs & Demilitarizing the Police
- Public Financing of Campaigns; and
- Abolishing the Immigration & Customs Enforcement Agency.

While the district where she ran in the Queens and Bronx neighborhoods has become more diverse over the years Ms. Ocasio-Cortez tapped into left-wing frustration with the Democrat Party and won with a grass-roots campaign despite being outspent by at least 10-to-one by Crowley.
But by any measurement her platform is extreme. It does not represent the views of a majority of the country... and may well represent the future of the Democrat Party.
In the short term Ms. Ocasio-Cortezs shocking election portends serious political risks for Democrat Gov. Andrew Cuomo in his own primary challenge from leftist actress Cynthia Nixon. (The gubernatorial primary will not be held until Sept. 13.)
But even more significantly New Yorks results constitute a preview of the coming attractions within the national Democrat Party.
There can be no doubt... the Democratic Party is clearly being over run by its own left wing.
In the past week alone Democrats and prominent liberals have called for harassment (and even violence against) Trump Administration staff and officials.
A liberal member of Congress Oregon Democrat Rep. Earl Blumenauer has echoed Ms. Ocasio-Cortezs call to abolish ICE.
Ms. Nixon has called ICE a terrorist organization."
Actor Peter Fonda suggested that presidential son Barron Trump should be kidnapped and put in a cage with pedophiles." Surprisingly on the left more examples abound.

White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders was kicked out of a Virginia restaurant by a liberal restaurateur who then followed her friends into another restaurant to heckle them.
A few weeks ago liberal comedian Bill Maher suggested that Americans should hope for an economic recession to help prevent President Trumps re-election.
Clearly such statements are well outside the bounds of normal discourse.
So does this represent the modern Democrat Party? Its future? Or the 2020 Democratic presidential primary?
Republicans in the House and Senate should put this Democrat Socialist" platform up for a vote before the Midterm Elections. Do Democrat Socialists really want...
- ICE to be Abolished?
- Do they want the legalization of all drugs?
- Do they want free college?
- Do they want Medicare for all?
Democrats should be forced to declare their allegiance. Democrats should be asked if they to choose to side with their partys left wing and their own electoral prospects.
If the Democratic Partys civil war is intensifying and if the recent of shocking victory of
Democrat Socialist Party of America" Ocasio-Cortez was not an outlier then things are going to get very interesting.
