Man Arrested for 'Posing Significant Threat' at U.S. Capitol is Illegal Immigrant Freed by Biden Policies

It is currently unclear what Marquez did for the year after his initial August 2022 apprehention

WASHINGTON, D.C. (Texas Insider Report) — U.S. Immigration & Customs Enforcement Officials (ICE) announced earlier today that they now have in custody the man who was arrested last week for carrying a machete onto the grounds of the U.S. Capitol – and that Jose Leonardo Marquez-Marquez is an illegal immigrant from Venezuela who was caught and released in 2022 under the Biden White House's lenient-to-non-existent "border policies."

Arrested the day after Christmas while on the Capitol Grounds – where his behavior drew officers’ attention – police found Jose Leonardo Marquez-Marquez, 23, with a machete, knife and brick at the U.S. Capitol.

He was apprehended by ICE Officers on immigration charges the next day, saying he “posed a significant threat.”

“Jose Leonardo Marquez-Marquez posed a significant threat to people in and around the U.S. Capitol,” said Patrick Divver, acting Field Office Director of ICE's Enforcement & Removal Operations (ERO) Washington, D.C. Office of the the arrest.

“Thanks to our law enforcement partners at the U.S. Capitol Police, this threat was mitigated quickly.

"Fortunately, Marquez is currently in ERO custody and will face removal proceedings.”

Initially described as being a "homeless man," Border Patrol Authorities first encountered Marquez on Aug. 21st, 2022, near El Paso, Texas. At that time, agents processed and released him the next day “due to a lack of detention capacity,” citing a lack of space to hold him.

It is currently unclear what Marquez did for the next year after his initial August 21st, 2022 apprehention, though ICE officials said he checked in with Deportation Officers in the District of Columbia area on October 5th, 2023.

It was at that time that he was finally issued an official Immigration Court Summons.

The Immigration Court Summons process is supposed to happen upon first contact at the border for illegal immigrants who are caught and released, but under the Biden White House's controversial immigration policies Border Officials have become overwhelmed both there and nationwide by the surge of illegal immigrants.

Numbers released earlier today for the month of December 2023 show that a record 302,000 "encounters" had taken place, and that Immigration Officaials have been forced to release 100s of 1,000s of illegal immigrants without proper vetting or issuance of the necessary paperwork required by law – meaning the released indiviuals are not technically in any form of official deportation proceeding.

Upon his arrest, Marquez was charged with carrying a dangerous weapon, and possessing a prohibited weapon.
