Texas Insider Report: WASHINGTON, D.C. – As Iran continues to threaten innocent lives and openly declare its intent to target tourist sites, our nation must be more vigilant than ever — especially as we prepare to host millions of visitors at the World Cup in just two months.
This week, I re-introduced a bipartisan bill that would stop bad actors like traffickers, terrorists, and transnational gang members before they even reach our borders.
While bad actors may lie about their identities to cross borders illegally, their biometric data doesn't lie.
The BITMAP Authorization Act, which I introduced with my fellow Texan, Rep. Cuellar, would empower our regional partners to use that data to identify and stop malign individuals before they reach the U.S. — all while protecting Americans' privacy by allowing U.S. citizens to opt out of the biometric program.
