McCAUL: This is Going to be The New Age or Chapter in Terror...

We stopped a Times Square bombing from occurring just this last month. Texas Insider Report: WASHINGTON D.C.  This was the 9th vehicle assault used by ISIS... and it happened very close to Ground Zero. This is going to be the new age or chapter in terror these attacks with knives or vehicles and by explosive devices. And its probably the hardest thing to stop" said Cong. Michael McCaul (R-TX) chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee in width=356an interview with Fox News after Tuesdays New York City vehicle attack. We know that for two years theyve called out in their internet magazine to attack by vehicle by explosive device or by knives in small scale attacks. So this is very much in accordance with the directives coming out Raqqa.

But Im very proud of what we have stopped. We stopped a Times Square bombing from occurring just this last month. We arrested an individual that was going to blow up Times Square McCaul said.

There are countless cases where the FBI NYPD and others have taken down ISIS in the United States and stopped these things from happening... but we have to be right 100 of the time said McCaul.

Authorities say the suspected New York City attacker Sayfullo Saipov claimed in a handwritten note found near his truck that he carried out Tuesdays attack on behalf of ISIS. Saipov was interviewed in 2015 by federal agents about possible ties to suspected terrorists.
After being interviewed in 2015 by federal agents in the Department of Homeland Security Investigations Unit about possible ties to suspected terrorists agents did not have enough evidence to open a case on him said law enforcement officials. Saipovs name and address was listed as a point of contact" for two different men whose names were entered into the Counterterrorism & Criminal Exploitation Units list after they came to the United States from threat countries" one federal official told ABC News. One of the two men has vanished and is being actively sought by federal agents as a suspected terrorist."

Saipov 29 came to the United States from Uzbekistan through a Diversity Visa Program Lottery in 2010 making him a legal permanent resident of the United States upon arrival.

He has lived in Ohio Florida and most recently Paterson N.J. where federal agents interviewed Saipov in 2015.

Investigators searching Saipovs online activities found social media links to people who are or were subjects of terror investigations.
