Never Forget

From Rep. John Ratcliffe - September 11 2016 Texas Insider Report: WASHIGTON D.C. Today marks 15 years since 9/11 when we suffered the worst-ever attack on U.S. soil – a violent tragedy that took the lives of 3000 people including 400 first responders. It was this horrific event in our nations history that inspired me to work as a terrorism prosecutor with the hope that I could do my small part to help combat the threats of radical Islamist extremism. To this day I share your ongoing commitment to this important fight. Rather than straying from this mission because of partisan political debates we must do all in our power to defeat terrorist groups at their core. We must reunite against the common enemy directing our efforts toward the true threats we face. congress.capitol.stepsThis week in Washington I joined my fellow Members of Congress on the steps of the Capitol in commemoration of all those whose lives were taken on 9/11. We all came together to sing God Bless America in unison as we upheld our vow to never forget this tragic day. I was pleased that this solidarity also ran much deeper – the House came together on the legislative front to pass with my strong support the Justice Against Sponsors of Terrorism Act (S. 2040). This measure ensures that those who sponsor terrorist attacks on U.S. soil will be held accountable for their actions by closing up legal loopholes that have allowed them to fall through the cracks. Im hopeful that well be able to sustain this spirit of teamwork and cooperation so that we can defeat radical Islamist extremism once and for all. After all doing anything less would be a grave disservice to all those whove lost their lives at the hands of violent terrorist groups. May God bless the victims of 9/11 and their families and may God bless America
