The Save America Act
Texas Insider Report: AUSTIN, Texas – In the early hours of July 4, 2025, massive rains and floods swept through the Texas Hill Country, claiming the lives of 136 Texans, including the heartbreaking loss of 28 souls at Camp Mystic. There are no words to describe the horror and the sadness of that day. It is impossible to describe the extent of this catastrophe. It shattered hearts across the United States. Through this horror, rescue operations saved over 850 people, thanks to local, state, federal, and volunteer teams, and we are incredibly grateful for their heroic service and the lives they saved.
My prayers are with the families and friends who lost loved ones during this flooding, especially those who lost children. We will never forget what happened, and we must continue working to improve emergency response systems that warn people before tragedy strikes, no matter where they are or what time of day it is.
Supreme Court birthright citizenship decision is a travesty
This week's Supreme Court decision regarding birthright citizenship is a travesty. The Fourteenth Amendment was written to overturn Dred Scott and guarantee citizenship to freed slaves—not to create automatic citizenship for the children of those who violate our immigration laws or are only temporarily in the United States. This decision will only invite further exploitation of our immigration system. The Court adopted an interpretation that departs from the original meaning of the Constitution and incentivizes illegal immigration.
Congress retains the authority to clarify federal law, and it should act immediately to restore the original meaning of the Citizenship Clause and protect the integrity of American citizenship.
Trump Accounts
Starting today, on our nation's 250th Independence Day, every child in America will have a personal investment account opened for them. Newborn children will have it seeded with $1,000. Parents, family members, and employers can contribute up to $5,000 per year to a tax-advantaged account.
I was proud to draft and pass into law Trump Accounts because every child in America should have the opportunity to benefit from compound growth, build wealth, and become an owner in the greatest economy on earth. Trump Accounts will create a whole new generation of capitalists in America.
The Save America Act
President Trump joined the Senate Republican lunch last week, where frank and candid conversations took place.
The Save America Act needs to be passed now. This common-sense legislation requires proof of U.S. citizenship to register to vote and a photo ID to actually vote. Both of these provisions are overwhelmingly supported by the American people. I have been fighting for and urging my colleagues to force the Democrats to hold a talking filibuster so they have to stand up in person if they want to delay passage of a bill. We should not simply let Democrats register their objection, but force them to keep talking and wear them down. I'm proud to be leading the fight to pass the SAVE America Act. We need to get it done.
The Dobbs decision,
Four years ago, the Supreme Court corrected one of the gravest acts of judicial activism in our nation’s history. In the Dobbs decision, the Supreme Court announced that for the first time since 1973, abortion was no longer mandated by federal law across the nation. While we celebrate this milestone, it's important to remember that the fight for life did not end four years ago. It continues today as abortion remains legal in many states across the country, and as a result, thousands of unborn children are lost to abortion every year.
One of the most important ways we can continue this fight is by reaffirming the inherent value of life. My resolution to designate June as "Life Month" signifies that every human life is worth protecting and fighting for. I call upon my colleagues in the Senate to help pass this resolution so that we can be reminded every June of the importance of the fight for life, and recommit to the American ideal that every single life has dignity.
