Sen. Charles Perry

Texas Insider Report: AUSTIN Texas  The 86th Legislative Session is off to a fast start. I have been spending a lot of time in the Senate Finance Committee hearings to help draft the states $240 billion two-year budget and visiting with constituents who come to the Texas Capitol (see pictures below).

I was honored to be named the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Water & Rural Affairs and Vice-Chair of the Health and Human Services Committee. I also serve as a member on the Agriculture Criminal Justice Finance and Transportation committees.

After holding interim committee hearings and hosting stakeholder meetings I filed a bill to create the first ever statewide flood plan and a $1.2 billion funding mechanism to help fund vital flood mitigation projects.

In addition there have been more bills filed to help the Teacher Retirement System address property tax reform put more money into education prevent and punish sexual assault and help those with mental health issues.
