Texas Insider Report: WASHINGTON, D.C. – House Republicans stepped up this week to responsibly fund the government with a clean Continuing Resolution (CR) while we work to finalize conservative full-year appropriations bills. The Senate must act swiftly and get this to the President's desk to avoid another costly and disruptive government shutdown.

I remain confident that we will pass all twelve appropriations bills, as House Republicans proved that it was possible to return to regular order last year. Democrats have proven they are willing to shut down the government and hold American families, troops, and small businesses hostage to appease their radical base. Republicans are doing what our constituents sent us here to do: govern.

Kimble, Mason, and Menard Counties Added to FEMA Major Disaster Declaration
I'm grateful that Kimble, Mason, and Menard counties have been added to President Trump's Major Disaster Declaration for Public Assistance. These communities have faced difficult challenges from recent flooding, and I've heard directly from local leaders about the impact on their communities. This designation gives local governments the federal resources they need to repair public infrastructure and support their communities' recovery.

If you are an agricultural producer in Kimble or Menard Counties and suffered damages such as livestock loss or infrastructure loss, you are eligible for USDA Disaster Assistance. Please visit USDA's website at farmers.gov to learn more information.

My team and I have been in close contact with county officials since the flooding began, working to ensure they received the resources they need. Four Pfluger Bills Advance Out of Committee on Energy and Commerce
This week, four pieces of legislation I've championed advanced out of the Committee on Energy and Commerce: the Combating Illicit Xylazine Act, the EMRTAI Act, the Premium Transparency Act, and the Biosimilar Red Tape Elimination Act. These bills tackle the illicit use of xylazine, strengthen our critical mineral supply chains, increase transparency in health insurance premiums, and make medications affordable again.

These issues may look different on the surface, but they reflect the same commitment of standing up for American families, strengthening our national and economic security, and cutting through the bureaucratic red tape that stands in the way of a healthier, safer, more affordable future.

I came to Washington to deliver results for Texas-11, and the numbers speak for themselves: four bills signed into law, eleven bills passed out of the House, and eight bills passed out of committees. ICYMI: New World Screwworm Free Educational Course
I am continuing to address the confirmed cases of the New World Screwworm (NWS) across Texas. The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) and the State of Texas have taken immediate action to eradicate this threat to livestock and the American food supply. 

As part of these eradication efforts, my office is coordinating with the USDA and local ranchers to ensure that sterile flies are being deployed across affected areas; a proven method for eliminating NWS populations at the source. My office and I will remain in close contact with Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins and the USDA as we work together to eradicate this parasite.

Governor Greg Abbott has launched a free, online educational course for Texans to learn more about NWS.
