Hosting U.S. Energy Secretary Chris Wright
By Cong. August Pfluger
Texas Insider Report: WASHINGTON, D.C. – As Chairman of the Republican Study Committee (RSC), I was honored to host U.S. Energy Secretary Chris Wright at this week's RSC lunch meeting to lay out an aggressive path forward for American Energy Production.
Secretary Wright is a successful entrepreneur who has worked in several areas of the energy industry including nuclear, solar, geothermal, and oil and gas, equipping him with a firsthand understanding that American energy independence has never been more critical to our national security and economic prosperity. Secretary Wright is committed to restoring American energy dominance and advancing energy sources that are reliable and secure for the United States.
House Republicans are ready to work alongside Secretary Wright to abolish every Biden regulation burdening the hard-working men and women of the Permian Basin.
Protecting Our Communities from Deadly Drugs
This week, I reintroduced bipartisan legislation to crack down on the deadly fentanyl additive xylazine. The Combating Illicit Xylazine Act would list xylazine as a Schedule III controlled substance, while protecting the drug's legal use by veterinarians, farmers, and ranchers.
Xylazine, also known as “tranq,” is an easily accessible veterinary tranquilizer that drug traffickers are turning to as a low-cost cutting agent for fentanyl - making the drug more addictive and more deadly. Our country is facing a drug epidemic that has devastated families and communities across America, and it is time for Congress to act.
I am proud to work with a bipartisan group of lawmakers to protect our communities from the illicit uses of xylazine while protecting its critical purpose in agriculture and veterinary medicine.

As a U.S. Air Force Academy graduate, I am always eager to meet with the next generation of service members when they visit Capitol Hill. This week, I was honored to sit down with several young and inspiring cadets during their visit to DC.
Each year, it is a privilege of mine to nominate students to U.S. Service Academies - especially the Air Force Academy! These brave young men and women represent the future of our military, and I wish them all the best in their future endeavors.
Protecting Americans from Maligned Foreign Adversaries
More than 20 years after 9/11, the advent of cloud-based technology has given terrorist groups even more tools to use in their pursuit of deadly chaos. Foreign-controlled apps like TikTok and encrypted messaging platforms like Telegram have shined a disturbing light on the lengths America’s enemies will go to attack our way of life and radicalize young minds with violent extremist ideology.
Given these growing threats, I re-introduced the Countering Online Radicalization and Terrorism Act to require the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to conduct annual assessments on terrorism threats posed to the United States by terrorist organizations utilizing foreign, cloud-based mobile and desktop messaging applications. DHS must assess and address this threat before it’s too late.

Americans have grown increasingly frustrated with biased mainstream media coverage, so it's imperative for Republicans to fight back. That's why I'm excited to announce the launch of the official Republican Study Committee Podcast, Right to the Point. A first-of-its-kind podcast, Right to the Point will give listeners unprecedented access to the voices and vision of leaders in Washington.
Each episode will feature RSC members breaking down the most pressing issues facing Congress. This outlet was designed to cut through mainstream media noise, delivering unfiltered perspectives directly from members of Congress.
For the inaugural episode, I co-hosted alongside my colleagues Congressman Mark Alford (MO-04) and Zach Nunn (IA-03).
