Texas Insider Report: AUSTIN, Texas – Last week, the U.S. House of Representatives voted on a clean Continuing Resolution (CR) to fund the government through mid-December. House Republicans came to Washington to govern, and we did just that by keeping the government open and avoiding another Democrat-manufactured shutdown despite the Left trying to hold the process hostage.
We have a responsibility to keep the government funded and operating, and we take that seriously as we continue the work of finishing full-year conservative appropriations. House Republicans passed all twelve appropriations bills last year, and we're going to do it again.

Socialism has failed everywhere it's been tried, without exception. It's a dangerous ideology that creates misery for the very people it claims to help. In America, we believe in hard work, personal responsibility, and limited government. As Socialists continue their takeover of the Democrat Party, Republicans cannot afford to sit back and watch it happen in silence. This is about protecting the country our children will inherit.This week's vote to condemn socialism puts the Left on the record and removes any doubt about where my colleagues on the other side of the aisle stand. They are choosing their radical agenda over the founding principles that built this nation.
"Demo Day" Hosted by the Committee on Homeland Security
This week, the Committee on Homeland Security hosted a Demo Day for Members of Congress and staff to see firsthand how the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is using new technology to counter tomorrow's threats. As our country approaches the twenty-fifth anniversary of 9/11, the threats facing our homeland have changed, and so has DHS.
During the event, we got a firsthand look at how DHS is using virtual reality training for law enforcement so agencies don't have to continue building new brick-and-mortar facilities for combat training. We were also able to observe how bad actors could use "jailbroken" AI to plan, recruit, and fundraise for terrorist attacks. I'm always proud to support the mission of DHS to keep our nation safe.
Data Center Transparency and Water Usage
During an Environment Subcommittee hearing this week, I questioned witnesses on the growth of data centers and their water usage. In my questioning, I pushed for facts over assumptions by asking witnesses to confirm that water impact varies significantly by project and location.
Witnesses agreed that water usage is highly dependent on local resources and infrastructure, underscoring the need for clear, community-level data, not broad Washington mandates to guide decisions. I also pressed on the need for transparency, asking whether local communities are getting the information they need as data center development continues to grow. Voting to Stop Court Packing
The Supreme Court of the United States (SCOTUS) has historically been composed of nine justices meant to interpret the law, not legislate from the bench. That balance has held for over 150 years, and it shouldn't be discarded for political convenience.
I voted this week in favor of keeping the Supreme Court at nine justices and putting a stop to court packing. This ensures no president or political party in power can pack the bench to force a political outcome. I'm proud to support this measure to defend the Constitution and protect the highest court in the land.
