Promises Made, Promises Kept: Ensuring Economic Prosperity Though the U.S. – U.K. Trade Agreement, Clearing Fentanyl Off Our Streets
By Cong. Michael McCaul
Texas Insider Report: WASHINGTON, D.C. –With conflict raging on across the Middle East, President Trump is travelling to the region this week to convene a Gulf States Summit, with hopes of discussing a variety of topics – including a solution to the ongoing war in Gaza. This critical meeting comes on the cusp of the president’s announcement of a ceasefire between the U.S. and the Houthi rebels, who have continuously attacked U.S. interests in the Red Sea for years.

- I joined Martha MacCallum to talk about regional stability in the Middle East, President Trump’s upcoming trip to the region, and more on Fox News’ "The Story."
President Trump recently announced that the United States and the United Kingdom have reached a trade deal centered around principles of fairness and reciprocity, known as the Economic Prosperity Deal (EPD). This agreement reflects a major milestone for transatlantic trade relations, as the deal will benefit both American and British economies.
Specifically, this deal will reduce significant tariffs on British steel and aluminum, remove all tariffs on Aerospace and industrial goods in exchange for purchases on the behalf of the U.K. from Boeing, and include measures to expedite U.S. goods through U.K. customs.
Additionally, United States and the United Kingdom have committed to working together to enhance both industrial and agricultural market access.
For Texans, this deal provides for 13,000 metric tons of tariff-free beef exports, and creates a $5 billion opportunity for new exports as a measure to support our farmers and ranchers.

I am very proud that President Trump and Prime Minister Sir Kier Starmer came together to develop this incredible plan, and I look forward to seeing more great trade agreements the Trump administration is working secure with many other nations.
Promises Made, Promises Kept: Clearing Fentanyl Off Our Streets
Last week, Attorney General Pam Bondi announced one of the largest drug busts in our nation’s history, in which the Drug Enforcement Administration seized 11.5 kilos of fentanyl powder and nearly 3 million fentanyl pills brought in by the Sinaloa cartel.
In the same operation, the DEA:
- seized over 75 pounds (35 kilos) of methamphetamine,
- 7.5 kilos of cocaine, and
- 4.5 kilos of heroin –
- all together, enough to kill millions of Americans.
- 16 individuals with ties to the Sinaloa Cartel were arrested in the operation –
- including six men in the country illegally.
I am so grateful this administration is dedicated to keeping Americans safe and cleaning up our streets.
