President Trump secured our southern border. Republicans promised to restore law and order. Those promises are producing measurable results. We are seeing encouraging signs in our economy as well.
Texas Insider Report: WASHINGTON, D.C. – For years, Texans were forced to pay the price for Sleepy Joe Biden's failure to secure our southern border. When the Biden Administration would not act, Texas did.
Governor Greg Abbott launched Operation Lone Star, deploying the Texas National Guard and Department of Public Safety troopers, constructing border barriers, and committing billions in state resources to protect Texans and help secure a border that is ultimately the federal government’s responsibility.
Now, Texas taxpayers are finally getting some of that money back.
Texas should never have been forced to shoulder this burden alone. But when Washington failed to do its job, our state stepped up, and now, with President Trump back in the White House and Republicans delivering in Congress, Texas taxpayers are finally being repaid.
The difference at the border could not be clearer.
The Trump administration recently marked 16 consecutive months of zero releases at the border. Border Patrol apprehensions have fallen dramatically compared with the previous administration, and the era of mass catch-and-release has been brought to an end.
We are also making progress against the deadly drugs that have devastated families and communities across our country. Synthetic-opioid deaths, primarily associated with fentanyl, fell 22% from 2024 to 2025, while overall drug overdose deaths fell 14%.
These results did not happen by accident.
They are what happens when we enforce our laws, secure our border, pursue the cartels trafficking poison into our communities, and replace failed catch-and-release policies with consequences.
President Trump secured our southern border. Republicans promised to restore law and order. Those promises are producing measurable results. We are seeing encouraging signs in our economy as well.New Census Bureau data show that real median household income reached $87,460 in 2025—the highest level on record dating back to 1967. The official poverty rate also fell to 10.2%, while median household income after taxes and credits increased 3.1% from 2024.
For nearly two years, President Trump and Republicans in Congress have worked to cut Washington red tape, unleash American energy, reduce the burden of government, and allow hardworking Americans to keep more of what they earn.
There is still much more work ahead. Families continue to feel the effects of high prices, and Washington must continue working to make everyday life more affordable. We cannot become complacent simply because the numbers are moving in the right direction.
But the contrast is clear: secure the border. Enforce the law. Cut unnecessary regulations. Put American workers and taxpayers first.
That is the agenda we promised the American people, and I will continue working alongside President Trump and my Republican colleagues to deliver on it.
Promises made. Promises kept. And we’re just getting started.
