Rep. Biedermann released the following statement concerning last week's legislative happenings

"This serves as a stern proclamation that you don't tread on Texas. The federal government can keep their unconstitutional edicts and extremist agenda in D.C."

Texas Insider Report: AUSTIN, Texas – The week started with a meeting in Defense & Veterans' Affairs committee hearing 5 bills. Most notable was SB 886, which would implement a Texas Veterans Commission to help those who have served our county obtain citizenship.

This passed the Senate unanimously. On Tuesday we held a meeting in Land & Resource Committee and deliberated on 18 bills. Most of these bills related to local special purpose districts. One of my bills, HB 3013 (Alamo Heroes Act) was favorable voted out of the House committee of Culture, Recreation & Tourism and sent to Calendars Committee.

Notable house bills on the Floor were:
HB 9, which creates a penalty for protesters who block traffic and prevent emergency vehicles from being able to respond to public safety emergencies;
HB 2283 blocks private groups like Facebook and Google from being able to pour millions of dollars into influencing elections;
HB 1900, which I co-authored, penalizes cities that try to defund their police, to the detriment of their citizens' safety;
SB 1438 closes a loophole that allowed local leaders to raise property taxes above the voter approval limit while Texans were being forced to stay at home and not work. Finally,
HB 19, which I also co-authored, combats abusive lawsuits against commercial vehicles that are jeopardizing small businesses and the essential services Texans rely on.
HB 2622 which I was honored to co-author, passed the House meaning we are now one step closer to becoming a 2nd Amendment Sanctuary State. This serves as a stern proclamation that you don't tread on Texas. The federal government can keep their unconstitutional edicts and extremist agenda in D.C."
