Rep. Cuellar’s Statement on the U.S.-Mexico Border Closing to Non-Essential Travel

Texas Insider Report: WASHINGTON, D.C. – (Laredo, TX)—Congressman Henry Cuellar (TX-28) released the following statement on President Trump’s announcement that the U.S.-Mexico border will close to non-essential travel to limit the spread of coronavirus. “Non-essential travel” includes travel that is considered tourism or recreational in nature.
 
“It is critical that we preserve trade and commerce between the United States and Mexico while also helping  protect the health and safety of our citizens. I have been working closely with both Acting CBP Commissioner Mark Morgan and Mexican officials to ensure that any disruption to trade at the U.S.-Mexico border will be minimized during efforts to prevent the spread of Coronavirus and maintain public health of our citizens.”
