“This funding is vital to ensure low-income residents in our district can afford their utilities, which have been increasing due to this Administration’s failed energy policies.”
WASHINGTON, D.C. (Texas Insider Report) — Congresswoman Mayra Flores announced earlier today that Texas has been awarded $245.7 million in funding for the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) Administered through the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services (HHS) to help low-income individuals and families pay for home heating costs this winter, cover unpaid utility bills, and help families make home energy repairs to lower their heating and cooling bills.
“This funding is vital to ensure low-income residents in our district can afford their utilities, which have been increasing due to this Administration’s failed energy policies,” said Rep. Flores.
“This will also help local community service agencies fulfill requests they still have pending and be able to process new ones in the new year.”
The total funding announced today includes an additional $1 billion appropriated by Congress to address rising energy costs. As winter approaches, funding for LIHEAP is extremely important. This program is crucial for protecting the health and well-being of all households in the Rio Grande Valley.
