Texas Insider Report: AUSTIN, Texas – "Texas continues to experience growth by leaps and bounds, and that requires homes, roads, offices, schools, and businesses to build and expand," said State Representative Carrie Isaac as she filed two separate bills earlier today that will ensure improved stewardship of the Texas Hill Country and of Texas.
“We know it requires aggregate and concrete, and we expect that. I believe these businesses can co-exist with their neighbors and we can all be good stewards of the Hill Country, while advancing the needs due to continued growth,” Isaac said.
House Bill 3658 will require aggregate and concrete batch operators to conduct fence-line or property-line monitoring of emissions from their facilities.
House Bill 3624 incentivizes aggregate miners and concrete plant operators to have reclamation plans for their mines. Operators who have previously utilized reclamation for their projects will be given priority for their applications.
“Being a good neighbor is something I know we all strive towards in Texas. Utilizing best practices such as reclamation and air monitors are helpful steps for all of us. I have been proud to work with Texans for Responsible Aggregate Mining, as well as industry to craft meaningful legislation to address these issues.
"We are called to be responsible stewards of all the resources we’re blessed with, including the natural beauty of the Texas Hill Country,” Isaac added.
Carrie Isaac serves as the State Representative for House District 73, which includes Comal County and part of Hays County.
