Rep. Jason Villalba Wins TMAs Patient Protection Award

Texas Insider Report: AUSTIN Texas The Texas Medical Association (TMA) has named Rep. Jason Villalba (R-Dallas) as one of Texas best legislators from the 85th legislative session. Representative Villalba is one of four TMA 2017 Patient Protection Award winners the association recognized today. TMA physicians and TMA Alliance members presented the award to Representative Villalba at its Advocacy Retreat in Austin. The award recognizes legislators who earned physicians greatest gratitude on behalf of their patients.
Representative Villalba has worked tirelessly to protect the patient-physician relationship as he supported important health care bills said TMA President Carlos J. Cardenas MD. Interestingly TEXPAC TMAs political action committee was one of his first endorsements for office...and he has been medicines champion ever since.
Dr. Cardenas noted Representative Villalbas support of legislation ensuring that only people with proper training and education practice medicine as well as other medicine-friendly bills. He also has supported public health and prevention initiatives to protect Texans. Representative Villalba served the Texas House of Representatives Business and Industry and Economic and Small Business Development Committees this past session. Representative Villalba listens and consults the advice of TMA and physicians in matters of health care legislation said Dr. Cardenas. He is a proven leader in the House and with our physicians in his district and we are fortunate to have him as our advocate. TMA is the largest state medical society in the nation representing more than 50000 physician and medical student members. It is located in Austin and has 110 component county medical societies around the state. TMAs key objective since 1853 is to improve the health of all Texans.
