"This legislation extends critical tax cuts, protecting TX-23 families from a 24% tax hike.”
Texas Insider Report: WASHINGTON, D.C. – “This morning, I voted yes on the House Reconciliation Package, which includes funding to reimburse our state for Operation Lone Star costs – a priority I’ve fought for since House budget talks began,” said South Texas Congressman Tony Gonzales (TX-23,) after voting to advance the House budget reconciliation package.

- Funding for checkpoint upgrades
- New technology and infrastructure
- Operation Stonegarden Law Enforcement Grants, and
- Customs & Border Patrol (CBP) bonuses.
"This legislation also extends critical tax cuts, protecting TX-23 families from a 24% tax hike while streamlining Natural Gas Permitting procedures to boost energy production in West Texas, and lower energy costs nationwide,” said Cong. Gonzales.
"After four years of disastrous national security and economic policies, we’re putting America back on the right track."
Congressman Gonzales represents Texas' 23rd Congressional District, the largest border district in the United States.
District 23 spans from San Antonio to El Paso, includes cities like Eagle Pass and Del Rio, Texas – which are known for border-related issues, and is larger than 30 states.
It encompasses two time zones, and covers more than 800 miles of the U.S. Southern Border.

During his 20 years of service in the U.S. Military, Gonzales, a Republican from San Antonio, rose to the Navy’s highest rank of Master Chief Petty Officer – an accomplishment less than 1% of enlisted individuals achieve.
He was deployed multiple times in support of combat operations in Iraq (Operation Iraqi Freedom,) and Afghanistan (Operation Enduring Freedom,) and regional security operations throughout Asia.
Prior to serving in Congress, Cong. Gonzales also served as a Department of Defense Legislative Fellow in then-U.S. Senator Marco Rubio’s office, where he provided essential contributions to the Senator’s defense, foreign policy, and intelligence portfolios.
