Cong. Gonzales, a Top 5 Lawmaker Who Delivers for Their District, Advances $118 Million for TX-23

"Our taxpayer dollars do no good sitting in Washington, D.C. for the federal government to burn."

WASHINGTON, D.C. (Texas Insider Report) — This year – thanks to his crucial position on the House Appropriations Committee – Congressman Tony Gonzales ranked number five out of all 435 Members of Congress for returning taxpayer dollars to his Congressional District through Community Project Funding (CPF.) Congressman Gonzales advanced over $118 million for local projects across multiple Texas counties. These projects range from border security to economic development initiatives, and if signed into law, will provide the 23rd Congressional District of Texas with essential federal funding.

Since Congressman Gonzales began his tenure in 2021, he has advanced and delivered nearly $250 million in CPF funding for South & West Texas, and has consistently ranked in the top 10 for House Members who deliver for their districts through community projects.

“I’m proud to be on the House Appropriations Committee, which has one of the most important jobs in Congress – ensuring that your taxpayer dollars are used responsibly.

"Our taxpayer dollars do no good sitting in Washington, D.C. for the federal government to burn. That’s why I’ve remained focused on bringing funding home to South and West Texas for tangible projects that will improve our communities,” said Congressman Gonzales.

Each year, every Member of Congress is welcome to submit Community Project Funding Requests to the House Appropriations Committee on behalf of the communities they represent. These targeted investments have opened doors for towns, villages, and cities across America to pursue initiatives that make a difference in their communities.

“I submitted 15 Community Projects – all of them made it through the House Appropriations Committee process, and a number of these projects have advanced through the full U.S. House of Representatives," said Gonzales.

"We have a few more steps to go, but once signed into law, this funding will come home to South and West Texas to improve border security, support career development opportunities for military-affiliated students, construct and improve community centers, enhance school safety measures, and strengthen workforce and economic development opportunities in our district.”
