Rep. Williams Applauds Additional $4 Billion CARES Act Award for Texas Healthcare Providers

“I am proud to continue delivering much-needed funding that aids their efforts and provides them with vital resources to combat the virus.”

Texas Insider Report: AUSTIN, Texas – Congressman Roger Williams (R-TX-25) today applauded the Department of Health and Human Services’ (HHS) announcement of an additional $4 billion award for Texas health care providers impacted by COVID-19. The funds are provided under the CARES Act and the Paycheck Protection Program and Health Care Enhancement Act, which allocated $175 billion in relief to hospitals and other healthcare providers, including those disproportionately impacted by this pandemic.

“The effects of the COVID-19 pandemic have only added to the challenges rural health care providers face. These professionals give lifesaving care to patients who may otherwise be unable to travel to the closest hospital for emergency services – and over the last few months, they have put the wellbeing of Texans above themselves in order to help heal and protect our families,” said Congressman Williams. “I am proud to continue delivering much-needed funding that aids their efforts and provides them with vital resources to combat the virus.”

A breakdown in funding is below:
  • $325,204,077 to 25 providers in Texas
  • $85,311,740 to 43 providers in Texas
In addition, HHS announced that dentists can now apply for relief by submitting an application to the Enhanced Provider Relief Fund Payment Portal. They will receive a reimbursement of 2% of their annual reported patient revenue. Applications will be accepted until July 24, 2020 and can be found here.
