Representative Carrie Isaac Statement on School Safety

The safety of our children, whom we cherish most, must be safeguarded.

Texas Insider Report: AUSTIN, Texas During this 89th session of the Texas Legislature, one of our priorities is the safety of our precious children. Therefore, 89R 3132 has been filed to allow a student facing an unsafe environment, whether due to bullying or other threats, to transfer to a safer educational setting while ensuring that the funds allocated to that student follow them to their new school.

To reduce the risk of violence against our children during the heightened tensions of elections 89R 4651 has been filed. This bill would prohibit public schools, and college campuses from being used as polling places, unless the school shuts down while the poll is open, ensuring a safer environment for students. 89R 3133 allows peace officers, and US military active or retired, and honorably discharged to serve as volunteer marshals at our children's schools. This bill will ensure that we have the best possible people responding to any threat that may arise against our children, while also ensuring an adequate number of School Marshals to enhance school security.

“The time that our children spend at school is considerable, we must make the security of our educational institutions a top priority,” said Representative Isaac.

Carrie Isaac serves as the State Representative for House District 73, which includes Comal County and part of Hays County.
