WASHINGTON, D.C. (Texas Insider Report) — For too long, Washington, D.C.'s justice system has failed to hold violent criminals accountable. That ends now, as President Trump is restoring law and order in our nation's capital.
Last week, I co-authored an op-ed alongside Congressman Brad Knott (NC-13) entitled "Restoring Safety, Sanity, and Sanctity to Our Nation's Capital," in which we detail how the radical D.C. City Council has prioritized criminals over law-abiding citizens through soft-on-crime policies. The nation's capital should be the crown jewel of our country, representing American patriotism and ideals.
Washington, D.C. will no longer be a safe haven for crime.

The Committee on Homeland Security released its latest "Border Brief", detailing how the Trump Administration's policies have secured the border in July 2025. Just last month, U.S. Customs and Border Protection recorded record-low illegal immigration at the Southwest border, with only 4,601 apprehensions.
The numbers speak for themselves: the Southwest border is more secure than ever. With the One Big Beautiful Bill now signed into law, our Border Patrol agents, CBP officers, and ICE officers will have the resources they need to keep our homeland safe. Under President Trump's leadership, law and order are being restored at the border.

Several Concho Valley residents celebrated their first day as U.S. citizens this week! Legal immigration, the path chosen by these individuals, is one of the pillars on which America was built. I am proud of their dedication and perseverance on the journey to citizenship.
Our Founding Fathers regarded the desire to legally immigrate to America as a source of pride and patriotism — a belief that the American Dream, and America itself, are worth protecting and fighting for.
I'm grateful that Kathy Keane from my office was able to attend this incredible event and celebrate alongside these new citizens. I look forward to representing them in Congress. Please join me in congratulating them on this tremendous achievement and welcoming them to the greatest country in the world!
ICYMI: Apply for FEMA Assistance by September 4th
Since the devastating floods swept through Central and West Texas on July 4th, my office and I have been working closely with local leaders and officials to ensure that residents in Texas's 11th Congressional District have access to the resources and assistance they need.
If you were impacted by the floods, there are just under 30 days left to apply for FEMA assistance. I strongly encourage anyone who has not yet applied to do so before the deadline on Thursday, September 4th. Homeowners, renters, and students are all eligible to apply.

August recess is always one of my favorite times of the year because it gives me the chance to be back home. While Congress isn’t in session, I travel across the 36th District, meeting face-to-face with constituents, businesses, and community leaders to share how I’m working for you in Washington.
From local chambers and law enforcement leaders to NASA’s Johnson Space Center, it’s a privilege to highlight Southeast Texas’ leadership and values. And after eleven years in Congress, I can tell you these past seven months have been among the busiest and fastest-paced I’ve experienced in Washington.
And we aren’t slowing down — we’re working every day to deliver on the mandate the American people gave to President Trump and Republicans in Congress.
Leading the World in Space
I traveled to NASA alongside Acting Administrator and Secretary of Transportation Sean Duffy, and Senator Ted Cruz. Johnson Space Center, from Mission Control to the Space Vehicle Mockup Facility, is at the heart of America’s return to the Moon through Artemis and beyond.
I’m proud that TX-36 is home to JSC — a national treasure that keeps America first in space.
