Salvation Army Kicks Off Angel Tree Gift Distribution at Friday Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

Helping fulfill the Christmas Wishes of Children up to 12 years old since 1979

Texas Insider Report: AUSTIN, Texas On December 13th, 2024, The Salvation Army will begin the distribution of its Angel Tree gifts to the parents and guardians of 7,000 Central Texas children in need of Christmas assistance this year. We will kick off the event with a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony at our Christmas Warehouse (6510 S. Congress Avenue, Austin, TX 78745) at 8:45 AM.

Client pick-up will begin at 9:00 AM, and the media can attend and capture this event until 10:30 AM.

“Distribution week is exciting because we get to see all the hard work pay off,” said Major Lewis Reckline, Area Commander for The Salvation Army Austin.

"After thousands of hours of preparation and donated toys and clothing, we finally get to see the relief on parents’ faces.

'They're immediately filled with hope, joy, and gratitude knowing that their children will have presents under the tree come Christmas morning."

Since 1979, The Salvation Army's Angel Tree program has helped fulfill the Christmas wishes and needs of children up to 12 years old throughout Central Texas. Low-income families applied to the program, and their children became "Angels."

Community donors then "adopted" the Angels and filled an Angel Tree bag with gifts chosen for each child.

Gifts are now being distributed to parents as Christmas approaches.
