Texas Insider Report: WASHINGTON, D.C. – I was thrilled to welcome to Capitol Hill for the Republican Study Committee's (RSC) member meeting this week. Under her leadership, the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) has put American farmers and ranchers first by expanding markets, rooting out fraud and abuse in the SNAP program, and protecting American farmland from foreign adversary ownership. The Secretary also spoke on the USDA's aggressive efforts to deploy sterile flies to eradicate New World Screwworm (NWS) along the southern border, including in Texas.
I applaud Secretary Rollins for her tireless work to deliver results for farmers and ranchers across the country. The RSC will continue working hand-in-hand with Secretary Rollins and USDA to strengthen rural America and ensure that our agricultural industry remains the envy of the world.

The "Sunshine Protection Act" to make Daylight Saving Time Permanent is an effort I proud to vote in favor of.
Twice a year, we put families and communities through an unnecessary disruption of changing clocks. Research has shown a measurable spike in car accidents in the days immediately following the spring time change.
By ending the clock-switching once and for all, we can protect our families from disruption, keep our roads safer, and enjoy more daylight.
EMRTAI Authorization Act Advances Out of Subcommittee
This past week, my legislation to recover critical minerals from contaminated sites and waste streams advanced out of the Energy & Commerce Subcommittee on Environment. The Environmental Monitoring and Remediation Technology Assessment Initiative (EMRTAI) Authorization Act, which I introduced alongside Congressman Greg Landsman (D-OH), directs the EPA to broaden and authorize the EMRTAI program to identify, evaluate, and support the recovery of critical minerals from contaminated land and waste streams.
As America works to reduce its reliance on foreign sources for the minerals our economy and national security depend on, this legislation is a commonsense step toward innovation, domestic development, and stronger environmental stewardship. Read more about the legislation here.
ICYMI: New World Screwworm Free Educational Course
Continuing to address the confirmed cases of the New World Screwworm (NWS) across Texas, the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) and the State of Texas have taken immediate action to eradicate this threat to livestock and the American food supply.
As part of these eradication efforts, my office is coordinating with the USDA and local ranchers to ensure that sterile flies are being deployed across affected areas; a proven method for eliminating NWS populations at the source. My office and I will remain in close contact with Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins and the USDA as we work together to eradicate this parasite.
