Texas Insider Report: WASHINGTON D.C. U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) issued the following statement applauding the Department of Housing and Urban Developments (HUD) announcement today that it will be allocating $46.4 million in Community Development Block Grant Disaster Recovery (CDBG-DR) funds to Texas. This funding was part of the $1.6 billion in CDBG-DR funding provided by Congress to respond to the 2018 natural disasters under the supplemental appropriations bill passed in October of 2018.
Last year the Rio Grande Valley experienced unprecedented flooding unlike anything before and as a result weve seen Texans unite to rebuild communities that were hit hard" Sen. Cruz said. These funds will be used to support the RGV community in its efforts to rebuild and I am grateful for Secretary Carsons continued support for Texas as it moves forward in its recovery process from the recent natural disasters. I remain committed to working with HUD to ensure that Texas receives these funds without delay."
Recently Sens. Cruz John Cornyn (R-Texas) Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) David Perdue (R-Ga.) Johnny Isakson (R-Ga.) Rick Scott (R-Fla.) Thom Tillis (R-N.C.) Richard Burr (R-N.C.) and Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) sent a letter to Secretary Carson urging for expedited disbursement of the CDBG-DR funds to aid with impacted states recovery efforts.
