Sen. Cruz Praises Supreme Court Decision on Vetting Procedures for Entry Into the U.S.

Ted Cruz (R-Texas) today praised the Supreme Courts decision upholding President Trumps September proclamation setting forth vetting procedures and travel restrictions for entry into the United States from nations where terrorism continues to pose a serious threat.

The Supreme Courts ruling is a victory for the rule of law and the national security interests of the United States" Sen. Cruz said. The Court rightly upheld the Presidents broad constitutional and statutory authority over immigration policy and national security overruling the baseless decisions issued by activist lower court judges. Protecting the security of the American people is the federal governments highest responsibility and the Presidents proclamation correctly restricts entry and enhances vetting for travelers from seven countriescurrently Iran Libya North Korea Somalia Syria Venezuela and Yemenwhere terrorism continues to pose a serious and demonstrated threat."
