Releases video highlighting historic tax cuts his efforts to make individual tax cuts permanent on Tax Day Texas Insider Report: WASHINGTON D.C. Today on Tax Day U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) released the following video highlighting the savings Texans are seeing following the historic tax cuts passed in December noting the average family of four will save over $11000 more this year compared to 2017. He also notes that on tax reform there is much more Congress can do on behalf of Texans and the American people including passing his bill to make the individual tax cuts permanent. The full video transcript is below and may be viewed here. Every year in April the IRS digs into the wallets of hard-working Texans so the federal government can get a cut of their earnings. And every tax season millions of families feel financial strain as Washington demands more and more from the fruits of their labor. But thanks to the historic tax cuts passed last year this will be the last Tax Day where Uncle Sam uses the outdated system Texans have struggled under for decades. As you may have noticed on your last few paychecks the savings are already coming in. The average family of four will save over $11000 more this year compared to 2017. Thats huge for working families. Not only did we double the standard deduction and the Child Tax Credit but businesses saw a tax cut of 40--boosting a booming economy and ushering in record low unemployment. Along with my Student Opportunity Amendment which allows families to apply tax-free income towards their childrens primary education via 529 savings plans we achieved the largest tax cut in our nations history. And our next task should be to make these cuts permanent. So remember this as you file your returns this Tax Day: theres a long road ahead but Republicans came together to pass meaningful tax cuts for hard working men and women. And were only just beginning."
