Includes Cornyn Provision to Help Streamline Coastal Protection Study for Texas
WASHINGTON U.S. Senator John Cornyn (R-TX) released the following statement after the Senate passed the
Water Resources Development Act (WRDA) bipartisan legislation that includes
a provision he authored to help streamline the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers coastal protection study along Texas upper Gulf Coast:
This bipartisan bill will not only invest in our nations waterways and ports it will help facilitate international trade and promote global economic competitiveness."
Importantly this bill takes a key step forward in streamlining a coastal protection study to safeguard against future catastrophic storms and provide certainty for Texans living along the upper Gulf Coast. "
The
Water Resources Development Act included language authored by Sen. Cornyn that would require the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to take into consideration certain studies already developed by the Gulf Coast Community Protection and Recovery District (GCCPRD) while completing its Coastal Texas Protection & Restoration Study.
