State Sen. Buckingham: Here's How to Participate in the Upcoming Redistricting Hearings

Although each hearing is focused on a different region, the public is encouraged to participate in any regional hearing that they choose

Texas Insider Report: AUSTIN, Texas – I am proud to serve on the Senate Special Committee on Redistricting. Over the past week, we have held Daily Virtual Regional Hearings in order to solicit input from the public about the redistricting process. Public participation is such a vital part of the redistricting process, and I hope to see my constituents from Senate District 24 participate in any way that they feel comfortable.
 

• From now through February 27th, the public will have seven (7) opportunities to provide virtual testimony via Zoom videoconference.
• You may sign up by clicking one of the "Hearing Notices" that corresponds with the date on which you'd like to participate. 
• Instructions for registered witnesses are provided in each "Hearing Notice," as well as via email after registering. 

Although each hearing is focused on a different region, the public is encouraged to participate in any regional hearing that they choose. For example, even if you reside in Senate District 24, you are more than welcome to sign up and submit your virtual testimony during the Tuesday, February 2nd hearing that focuses on the Brownsville/Harlingen/McAllen region.

Please note that you must register at least 24 hours in advance of each regional hearing.

If you do not wish to testify virtually, written comments and attachments are welcome at any time throughout the legislative redistricting process. All comments and attachments received via the public-input portal are shared with all committee members and maintained in the committee's official records.
