State Sen. Menéndez: Rooftop Solar Protection Bill Supports Customers, Use for All Texans

Texas Insider Report: SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Senator José Menéndez filed Senate Bill 398 which provides protections for homeowners by requiring sellers of distributed renewable generation resources to provide key disclosures of information to their customers.  The bill will ensure that a municipality cannot restrict installation of solar generation sources that are more restrictive than a Property Owners Association guidelines, thus giving homeowners greater property rights.

Senator José Menéndez released the following statement:
“This crucial piece of legislation will ensure sure solar customers receive the information they need to make informed decisions.

"Moreover, it will prohibit municipalities from unreasonably restricting the right of citizens to choose their own energy source.  This legislation will ultimately support energy independence for consumers and help bring even more jobs and solar energy to Texas.”
