Sessions Applauds Passage of CHIP Reauthorization

Texas Insider Report: WASHINGTON D.C. U.S. Congressman Pete Sessions (R-TX) Chairman of the House Committee on Rules released the following statement applauding the passage of a package to reauthorize CHIP for five years and provide much needed funding for community health centers:
Our nation has a history of helping and caring for the most vulnerable in our society and todays legislation is no exception. In 2015 more than 8.4 million children across the country received their health insurance through a CHIP program and in Texas alone it helps more than 400000 children. I proudly joined my colleagues in reauthorizing the CHIP program and ensuring community health centers across the country receive the funding they need to continue to serve our communities. This package will provide critical care to those who need it most without adding to our federal deficit. While I wish my friends on the other side of the aisle wouldve worked with us to get this done before the authorization expired I am pleased that we responsibly acted before any of the funds for these programs were in jeopardy for running out.
