Texas Insider Report: WASHINGTON D.C.Following passage of the continuing resolution (CR) Republican Study Committee Chairman Bill Flores (R-Texas) released the following statement:
After Election Days resounding results House conservatives listened to the American people and advocated passing a short-term CR to fund the federal government until President-elect Trump has his team in place. Given the mandate for unified Republican government it would have been inappropriate to negotiate a lame-duck omnibus deal with President Obama and Harry Reid.
As we look ahead to the next two years House conservatives are optimistic about what we can achieve. I look forward to working with them to ensure that CRs are a thing of the past the Legislative Branch reclaims its power of the purse and fiscal responsibility is restored.
