After the election in 2016 I noted that most of us got it wrong. Many many people myself included were convinced Donald Trump could not win but he did. I suggested at the time that the President was owed some level of humility. If we got that so wrong perhaps there were other things we got wrong too.
The reaction from too many however was to conclude that the President had cheated. He had stolen the election by colluding with the Russians. They doubled and tripled down on that.
They were wrong about that too.
Perhaps now is the time to exercise some level of humility. You got the election wrong. You got the Russian collusion wrong. Maybe you got other things wrong too.
Look I still have all my concerns about character and the President but I increasingly realize a lot of people dont really care about his character they care about his demeanor. If the President supported cracking open the skulls of children and sucking out their brains just as they arrived through the birth canal and banged porn stars but he stayed off Twitter and smiled more many of his but character!" critics would be his biggest fans.
I continue to think character matters and continue to wish the President stayed off Twitter. But I think a lot of the people doubling and tripling down to deny the President won or deny Muellers findings are revealing themselves to be no better than they think of the President.
Maybe just maybe exercise some humility admit you got it wrong and give the man the benefit of the doubt. You dont have to like him. You dont even have to vote for him. But maybe stop presuming the worst possible motive for everything he does.
I have plenty of friends who will never vote for President Trump. I totally get their reservations and respect them. But it is time for everyone to admit he really did win he really wasnt the Russian collaborator so many accused him of and Hillary Clinton really did suck as a candidate.
