There's absolutely no place for anti-Semitism, especially in the halls of Congress. America stands with the Jewish people and Israel.
Texas Insider Report: AUSTIN, Texas – I was proud to vote for my friend and colleague, Representative Mike Johnson (R-LA-04), for Speaker of the House. Speaker Johnson is a strong conservative who believes in the Constitution. I look forward to working closely with him to secure the border, stand by Israel, hold the Biden administration accountable, and get America's fiscal house in order. There's a lot of work to be done, but I'm confident Speaker Johnson is the right leader at the right time.
Supporting Israel And Standng Up Against Anti-Semitism
This week, I proudly voted for H.R. 771, a resolution reaffirming America's support for Israel. The brutal attack and the subsequent treatment of hostages by Hamas is barbaric. I unequivocally stand with Israel and support Israel's right to defend itself.
Sadly, there's anti-Semitic rhetoric coming from some of the left in the wake of the Israel-Hamas War. This week, I cosponsored a resolution with Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene to hold Rep. Rashida Tlaib accountable for her disturbing rhetoric. There's absolutely no place for anti-Semitism, especially in the halls of Congress. America stands with the Jewish people and Israel.
The Brief:
- More encounters were recorded on the United States’ southern border in the 2023 fiscal year than any other since the government began collecting those records in 1960, shocking new data showed.
- Israeli troops and tanks conducted a ground raid in northern Gaza overnight into Thursday, Israel Defense Forces said, attacking Hamas targets.
- Rep. Jamaal Bowman, D-N.Y., pleaded guilty on Thursday to one count of falsely pulling a fire alarm, which he did in a House office building on Capitol Hill last month.
As soon as the House elected Speaker Johnson, we got to work on passing the next appropriations bill required to fund the government. The Energy and Water Appropriations bill addresses critical issues like America's nuclear infrastructure, energy security, and economic competitiveness. This year's legislation ends the Biden administration's damaging WOTUS rule that strangles America's farmers and ranchers in bureaucracy. It also eliminates billions in Green New Deal funding and rescinds over $5 billion in wasteful Inflation Reduction Act funds.
