State Rep. Eric Johnson of Dallas elected as the only Texan to the Democratic Legislative Campaign Committees Board of Directors

Texas Insider Report: AUSTIN Texas  (Dallas TX --) The Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee (DLCC) elected State Representative Eric Johnson D-Dallas to the Board of Directors. Rep. Johnson is among seven new members elected at the annual winter meeting to the DLCC and is the only Texan to serve on its national board. The DLCCs reinvigorated Board of Directors will focus on state legislatures working to build down-ballot Democratic power nationwide. Rep. Johnson said The DLCC whose sole mission is to take back state legislatures across the country has never been more needed and I am honored to have been asked to help lead this organizations efforts in Texas and throughout the South. The Democratic Party has emphasized a need for a strategic response to this years presidential election. Democrats are focused on protecting against the proposed right-wing policies that aim to suppress voting violate the civil rights of LGBT Americans limit the protection of immigrant communities and deny equal rights for women -- ultimately undermining progress in this country. Perhaps the only good thing to come out of Donald Trumps victory is that it has caused the Democratic Party to realize that our obsession with national elections at the expense of state and local elections must end."
