Addressing the issues during the 2023 Legislative Session.
By State Rep. Todd Hunter
AUSTIN, Texas (Texas Insider Report) — The 88th Texas Legislative Session began earlier this week on Tuesday, January 10th. The Texas House of Representatives Swearing-In Ceremony was held on the House Floor at noon on January 10th. And, if you are unable to join us, I would like to invite you to come to Austin sometime during the 88th Session and visit our Capitol Office. We want you to be a part of your Texas Legislature, and the decisions that are made and the impact that it may have on your daily lives.
Our office is located on the first floor of the Texas Capitol Building, at the room number 1W.5.
Over the past year and a half, I have been proud to help organize a number of summits and conferences in and around the Coastal Bend. These meetings provided an important opportunity to look at key issues facing the State of Texas.
These meetings covered key issues such as:
- Human Trafficking
- Mental Health
- Property Taxes, and
- Windstorm Insurance Rates
Hearing from individuals and from members of our community about these important subjects is a very important part of the overall legislative process. The information gathered from these meetings will be helpful in addressing the issues during the 2023 Legislative Session.
If you would like to follow the Texas House and learn more information on news, committees or other aspects of the legislative body, you can access its website at Texas House of Representatives. The site features live streaming from the House floor, committee hearings as well as access to a number of other resources.

Since the 88th Texas Legislative Session is getting under way, I want to hear your ideas and suggestions. We want to know what matters to you – so if you would, please take a moment here tell us what you think.
Your ideas and information are important forms of feedback, and I hope that you will not hesitate to contact my office. As always, we're available at any time to assist you with questions, concerns, or comments.Thank you for allowing me the privilege of once again serving the people of House District 32. I am proud to be a voice for the Coastal Bend and look forward to continuing that role during the 88th Texas Legislative Session.
