Chuck Schumer is fighting for his political life, and he's trying to demonstrate to the radical left that he hates Trump as much as they do.
Texas Insider Report WASHINGTON, D.C. – President Trump and his cabinet secured a historic achievement. He gave Hamas a "take it or leave it" offer and translated Israel's historic military successes into several diplomatic successes. Now, Hamas is obligated to release all the hostages, living or dead. The release of all hostages has been long overdue, and I pray the families may find some measure of solace as they are reunited with their loved ones. Heidi and I carry their sorrows in our hearts and uplift them in prayer.
Week 3 of the Schumer shutdown has concluded, and we now approach Week 4. The Republicans voted to reopen the government, and sadly, the Democrats continued to say, “shut it down”. I have deferred my paycheck while we're shut down. Chuck Schumer is fighting for his political life, and he's trying to demonstrate to the radical left that he hates Trump as much as they do.
It's important to highlight the real toll that this political stunt is taking on Americans – including those who live, work, and travel. This begins with the TSA workers and air traffic controllers around the country. This week, thousands of these agents and air traffic controllers received their first incomplete paycheck. They are now working to ensure travelers reach their destinations safely, without pay. Democrats are now taking the opposite approach – cutting off funding vital to our air traffic control systems and risking the safety of America’s flying public.
My legislation, the Keep America Flying Act, would pay air traffic controllers and TSA agents, along with other essential personnel, during the Schumer shutdown in order to keep our airports orderly and secure.
National Defense Authorization Act
The United States Senate, just last week, passed the National Defense Authorization Act. It includes an amendment that I authored, which extends streamlined permitting for international bridge crossings to 2030. This provides a longer window to either construct new bridges from South Texas to Mexico or expand existing ones.
The reason is simple: my number one priority is jobs, jobs, jobs. Every year, the United States conducts roughly $800 billion worth of trade and commerce with Mexico.
In South Texas, an enormous number of jobs depend on robust trade and commerce across those bridges.
Presidential Medal of Freedom for Charlie Kirk
Last week, I attended the presentation of the Presidential Medal of Freedom for Charlie Kirk from President Trump. He spoke from the heart and honored Charlie's legacy. The Presidential Medal of Freedom is the highest honor that can be awarded to an individual, and to give it to Charlie, it was bittersweet, because Charlie would have been 32 that day.
At the White House ceremony, I met Charlie's parents for the first time. I had not met them before, and I had the opportunity to tell both his mom and dad,
“Heidi and I love Charlie. When we got to know him 14 years ago, his vision was as clear then as it was the day he died — a vision of creating a movement to energize and mobilize young people to love freedom, free enterprise, the Constitution, and America.
"That vision was unmistakable.”
