Texas Senate Republican Caucus Unanimously Endorses Pete Flores For Texas Senate

Texas Insider Report: AUSTIN Texas  Following the first place finish of Republican Pete Flores in Texas Senate District 19s special election Texas Republicans are poised to ride a wave of enthusiasm and win a district previously represented by Senator Carlos Uresti (D-San Antonio) who resigned after multiple felony convictions. Pete Flores shocked the political establishment by winning eight counties and receiving 48 of the vote on Election Day in this open special election. This endorsement from the Texas Senate Republican Caucus joins with Senators Cornyn and Cruz as well as Governor Abbott Lt. Governor Patrick and many others. Governor Abbott narrowly won the district in 2014.

Despite being outspent by over a twelve to one margin since January 1st Republicans unified behind Pete Flores and he carried that momentum to the polls. This endorsement by the Texas Senate Republican Caucus is believed to be the first endorsement ever by the Texas Senate Republican Caucus in an open special election and was decided on by a unanimous vote of the Senate Republican Caucus. A Flores victory would give Texas Republicans a total of twenty-one seats in the Texas Senate and would enhance Republicans ability to pass meaningful legislation such as property tax reform in the upcoming 86th Legislative Session.

A runoff will be held on September 18. The winner will serve through 2020 the remainder of the unexpired term.
