TexProtects Announces Sophie Phillips as New CEO 

Texas Insider Report: AUSTIN Texas (Dallas Texas)  TexProtects Champions for Safe Children has announced that Sophie Phillips will be the organizations new Chief Executive Officer effective October 1. Phillips currently TexProtects Chief Operating Officer will be only the second CEO in TexProtects history taking the reins from Founding CEO Madeline McClure. McClure began the organization in 2004 with the goal of tackling the epidemic of child maltreatment in Texas on a systemic level through research education and advocacy. McClure will move to a position on TexProtects Board of Directors. The appointment of Phillips as CEO was announced September 25 at TexProtects annual Awards Gala at Hotel ZaZa in Dallas.

Our Board of Directors hired Pea Search Consulting for a nationwide search comprising 60 candidates but ultimately we realized the best choice for this job was already in our midst. I have complete confidence that Sophie will take TexProtects to the next level as the states premier advocacy organization on issues of child abuse and neglect." I have dedicated six years of my life to growing TexProtects into an effective agent of change in the lives of Texas children and look forward to building upon the strong foundation and legacy Madeline created."

In addition to managing the daily operations of the organization Phillips has been instrumental in organizing the Texas Home Visiting Consortium a collaborative of home visiting providers funders researchers and state agency resources to mobilize in order to raise awareness of the increasing need of family support home visiting programs in Texas and to advocate at the Legislature for increased investments to scale. Sophie Phillips came to Texas after receiving her B.A. in Social Work from the University of Iowa and a Masters in Social Work from Washington University in St. Louis.
