Texas Insider Report: AUSTIN Texas (Dallas Texas) Statement from Madeline McClure founding CEO of TexProtects the Texas Association for the Protection of Children on the states response to the special masters report as commissioned by federal Judge Janice Jack in the case of
M.D. v. Abbott et al.
The Texas foster care system is in need of expanded placement and service capacity and a reduction in demand to meet the capacity. Regardless of whether its the court or the state providing the directive lets move forward to invest in kinship care programs and proven prevention programs that divert children from foster care and use targeted marketing to expand supply. The court has provided a useful supplemental roadmap for needed fixes. Lets stop wasting resources on fighting and move forward with implementing both the court and the states remedies. We must put the safety of children first.
TexProtects The Texas Association for the Protection of Children was created to tackle issues of Child Protective Services (CPS) reform prevention and public awareness to bring a collective organized voice representing the needs of children at risk of abuse and survivors of child abuse and neglect. The organization is autonomous nonpartisan and nonpolitical designed to educate decision makers private funders and the public at large. To date it is the only Texas organization that has a dedicated focus on the main issues of protection prevention and healing of abused and neglected children.
