Texas Insider Report: WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Biden Border Crisis is real, and it’s only going to get worse. That’s why today, I joined my colleagues at the Capitol to call on President Biden to take ownership of the crisis he’s created, and take immediate action to get it under control.
Remarks as prepared for delivery:
“The Biden Border Crisis, as we call it here in Texas, is real and it’s only going to get worse. On day one of his presidency, Biden halted border wall construction and revoked the Trump administration’s national emergency declaration. Plus, he removed the remain in Mexico policy and re-implemented 'catch and release'. This means migrants who have broken our nation’s laws are being released into our communities – without receiving a covid test – during a pandemic.”
“All of this has incentivized illegal immigrants to attempt to enter the U.S. Already this year, there has been a five-fold increase in unaccompanied minors, and the numbers of migrants apprehended has tripled. And yet, President Biden refuses to acknowledge this crisis that is entirely his making.”
“The bottom line is, if you’re not from the border, you just don’t understand it. This is a huge problem, and it will have a real negative impact on Texas. Because of our proximity to the border, the Houston area – my home – has unfortunately become the largest sex trafficking region in the nation. And it’s not just sex trafficking, but human trafficking and drug trafficking as well.”
“Look, it’s easy for Biden and the liberal coastal elites to ignore this, because it’s not happening in their backyard. But it’s happening in mine. And the truth of the matter is – it’s my constituents who will pay the price for an unsecure border.”
“So, President Biden, I’m calling on you to step up and take ownership of the crisis that you’ve created. Step up, and take immediate action to fix it. Take down these border walls and protections around the Capitol and send them where they’re actually needed.”
“If you don’t, Texas will want to know why.”
