Texas Insider Report: AUSTIN Texas Two Austin physicians were reelected today and a third was elected for her first term to represent Texas physicians in the American Medical Association (AMA) House of Delegates the national organizations policymaking body. The Texas Medical Association (TMA) House of Delegates elected the physician leaders in San Antonio during TexMed TMAs annual conference.
Michelle A. Berger MD an ophthalmologist in practice for 33 years was reelected to serve as an AMA delegate.
David C. Fleeger MD a board-certified colon and rectal surgeon in practice for 27 years was reelected to serve as an AMA delegate.
Myphuong T. (Theresa) Phan MD a family physician in residency training was elected as an alternate delegate.

As part of the TMA state delegation to AMA these physicians help make policy recommendations to the national body on behalf of Texas doctors.
All three physicians are members of the Travis County Medical Society.
Both Dr. Berger and Dr. Fleeger serve on TMAs Board of Trustees. The TMA House also elected Dr. Fleeger to become TMAs president-elect today.
TMA is the largest state medical society in the nation representing more than 51000 physician and medical student members. It is located in Austin and has 110 component county medical societies around the state. TMAs key objective since 1853 is to improve the health of all Texans.
